*In the Chicago mayoral race Tuesday night, Rahm Emanuel has been declared the winner, gaining well over the 50% he needed to avoid a runoff, according to unofficial returns.
Emanuel held just under 55% of the vote with 87% of the precinct votes counted. Meanwhile, Gery Chico, his nearest competitor, only received 24%.
Both CNN and the Associated Press called the election for Emanuel, the former Chief of Staff for President Obama.
