My Macau tour #2: The Grand Lisboa

And the view of Macau from Praca de Ferreira do Amaral

The Grand Lisboa is one of Macau's landmark buildings. You see it almost from every spot in Macau city. At night, there are beautiful light shows on the building, colors vary from purple to green and many more, it's magnificent. See one of my night photos here>>
The building, which has a hotel, casinos and restaurants is 261m tall and has 58 floors. It was finished in 2007. The building resembles a lotus flower, which is the national flower of Macau and can also be found on its current official flag (see here). The Chinese name of the building is 新葡京 (pronounced as Xīn Pú jīng) and it translates as "New Portuguese capital". I must say the building looks nice from far, but when you're close or even below, you're truly amazed by the shape. At least I was. It's not as tall as Taipei 101, but I was equally impressed. Enjoy some pics:

This part is called Praca de Ferreira do Amaral and it's a huge roundabout.

Casino Lisboa is located here.

New buildings like this are being built everywhere in this area.

Governador Nobre de Carvalho bridge that connects Macau island with Taipa island.

View of he Macau Tower, another landmark. More about it next time.
