My Macau tour #3: St. Augustine's church

with the Dom Pedro V Theatre

My next tour led me to the southern part of Macau island (check map, the blue tour). The first noteworthy building on this route was St. Augustine's church. It was built in the late 16th century by the Spanish Augustinians. It's located south from Senado Square, you need 5-10min of walking, if you take the shortest route. The way to there is winding and you have to go uphill a little. But it's definitely worth to see, because there's a beautiful square and the Dom Pedro V Theatre is near by. Enjoy some of my pics:

I went to explore some small side lanes near the famous Avenida de Almeida Ribeiro.

Saw many men working on the street, it was noisy.

The area seemed a bit run down, but has a certain nostalgic feel to it.

The way to the church lead me uphill.

There it was: The St. Augustine's church from the side.

The lovely St. Augustine's square with the Portuguese pavement.

St. Augustine's church on the left, Dom Pedro V Theatre on the right.

That uncle followed me for a while and he looked like he was moody - check this photo.

The front of the church. The current facade is from the 19th century.

The well-maintained Dom Pedro V Theatre.

The theatre again.

After I left the two lovely buildings, it went downhill. Next destination was another church.
