Much of the evidence in Rodney’s case has not held up and at the very least, all evidence should be reconsidered before we ruin a person’s life by keeping them locked away in prison. The problem for Rodney is that his case is not a death penalty or DNA case, leaving him out of the reach of many liberal civil liberties groups. But the fact remains that mass incarceration is a deep and insidious threat to the black community and must be dealt with using large-scale measures that serve to redefine what justice means in America.
