Killing Osama is a Major Victory for Obama

U.S. special forces kill bin Laden, Obama tells nation

Your Black World reports

US officials have confirmed that Osama Bin Laden was killed in Pakistan this weekend.  The United States is claiming that their security forces are in possession of Bin Laden’s body.  Bin Laden is widely believed to be the mastermind behind the attacks on the World Trade Center in 2001.

Bin Laden used hundreds of millions of dollars from a family fortune to create a carefully run organization with subsidiaries around the world.   He has been a staple on the FBI’s Most Wanted List for the last 10 years.

In addition to the 9/11 attacks, Bin Laden has been implicated in other deadly bombings since the 1990s.  He was believed to have been involved with an attack on the USS Cole in October, 2000, which killed 17 sailors.  He has also been connected with other bombings and firefights with US troops.

In an interview on CNN in 1997, Bin Laden declared “jihad” against the United States, another term for “holy war.”  Much of his outrage was linked to the Persian Gulf War in the early 1990s.  Bin Laden largely targeted the United States for attacks because of its presence in Saudi Arabia.

The announcement of Bin Laden’s capture is a tremendous victory for the Obama Administration, given that Bin Laden had evaded capture for the entire Bush presidency.  Additionally, given the president’s recent back-and-forth with Donald Trump, some are speculating as to whether the announcement of Bin Laden’s capture was deliberately delivered just minutes before a highly-rated finale episode of the NBC show, “Celebrity Apprentice.”   Perhaps it was just good timing.
