SCORE!

I got some great stuff at the CCO today.

All in all, I only spent $130 (under budget!) and I got:

Mini Lipglass Tasti Set (from holiday a few years ago, I've wanted this forever!)
Blue Storm Pigment
Frost Pigment
Adorn Shimmersouffle (I want more of these!)
Royal Hue Shadestick
Haute Chocolate Lipglass Tasti (but it's too old and it went bad.... ewww. Just for collecting.)
Blue Memory Lipglass
Tartlette Lipglass
Love Nectar Lustreglass
MV5 (Greenify)

And a bottle of Fix+ that she forgot to put in my bag. =(

On my way up to the counter, I saw a Blue jewel-encrusted palette... And I FLIPPED OUT! Because... JEWEL PALETTE = PARROT!!!! But, sadly, it wasn't. It had Black Tied, Idol Eyes, Pink Freeze and a couple of other colors. None were limited edition so I passed. Actually, it was packaged with another palette plus a brush set.

They had the Tailormade palettes, but they were different! I wonder if they were real? I may go back and get them.

I'm definitely going back for the other two Shimmersouffles, a couple limited edition lipglasses and the Creations set (MV1, MV2, MV3).

I'm very pleased with what I got.

And I went to Sephora but they didn't have anything I was looking for. Boo.

I'm going to the Cosmetics Company Outlet tomorrow! Yay!! I hope they have something really good. I'm in the mood for pigments.

I went to the DF&CCO twice last week. Once for me, once to get a couple presents for K.

In all , I got 4 mini Juicy Tubes (Simmer, Miracle, Creamsicle, Sun Bronze), 12 eyeshadows (warm and cool duos and quads) 4 mini Flextencils, 4 sets of eye/face wrinkle treatment (it came with... lol, never too early to start though) 8 Juicy Vernis, Fraichelle gelee, exfoliant and moisturizer, Star Gloss, 2 lipsticks, a huge tote, and Armani Night.

I think I'm gonna go to sephora tomorrow and pick up a few things. They have a Mini professional brush set I was gonna get for K. Cause her makeup sucks and she needs help. Sephora brushes are pretty good too, especially the new line.

What she really needs is some concealer and some Bare Minerals. But I'm not spending THAT much on her. $10 on Lancome and $15 on Sephora is enough for someone who doesn't know how to use it properly. lol I'm such a bitch. But I hate orange foundation, and mascara smudged onto the lid. Ick.

I also got my first CCB in Pearl. Johnnie said it makes the color of Lustre lipsticks pop. And wow, it does. I got Primped Up and Viva Glam V. Also, Courting Rose, Heartthrob and Luxuriate.

Courting Rose = perfect. Too bad it's Limited Edition. GRRRRRRRRRRR. I need to buy a backup.

I broke my spending freeze, but only by a little!

I got:
MAC Euroflash lipstick (from Belle Azure with the bronze package!)
MAC Lipgelee in Who's That Lady

A bunch of Lancome sets from the Lancome outlet. Including 4 mini Juicy Tubes, a bunch of mini Flextencils, some lipstick, 12 eyeshadows and some anti wrinkle treatment... stuff.

And a couple things from Sephora so I could get the deluxe sample set... heh heh heh.

I'm not much of a lipstick girl- a little too old ladyish for me, but I think Euroflash has changed me. After seeing it on Francois, I HAD to have it. Luckily maccosmetics.com still had it in stock, so I ordered that and the cutest of the 3 Limited Edition lipgelees from Who's That Lady.

Euroflash = <3 <3 <3 <3 <3

Especially with Who's That Lady? over it. The only other lipstick I've bought that wasn't included in something was Peachstock, after I saw the ever-gorgeous PrettyKitty wearing it. It doesn't look so good on me.

I think it's the Lustre formulation. It's much nicer than Peachstock... which may be a matte? I forget.

So in honor of wearing my new Euroflash, I did a Belle Azure look today. I should have snapped a picture, cause K liked it a lot, but I forgot. Oops.

Goldbit, lid to brow
Leisuretime, crease
Belle Azure, Outer crease blended to lashline
Lucky Green, lower lashline blended to Belle Azure
Shiseido hydrosomethingorother in white as highlight

...and Hundred Degrees pearlizer over Golden on the cheeks.

Very sexy, subtly colorful.

With a new collection (or two... and sometimes three) coming out every month, I never really get a chance to explore and adore the most recent collection. It's sad. As soon as D'Bohemia came out, I was drooling for Belle Azure. As soon as that came out, I was lusting for Rebel Rock... Which, by the way, is hot.

Rebel Rock was totally my kind of collection. Blue Pigment, Anti-Establishment, Say, Yeah!, Living Pink.... So hot. Except Banshee. I haven't even touched Banshee. I hate neutrals. I don't know what to do with it.

Well, I don't hate all neutrals. Naturally Eccentric was amazing. I use both quads at least once a week.

But lately, I've been in a silver mood. I've been using Filament, Anti-Establishment, Little Minx and Nighttrain just about every day this week.. But I've been mixing it up a little every day. Fuschia pigment, Blue pigment, Violet pigment... Ooh... I haven't tried it with Golden Lemon yet. Or Teal, but teal doesn't really work for me.

And now that I have Who's That Lady?, I'm dying to get my hands on Lingerie. *sigh*

Estehticians, tell me this.

Why does a bikini wax cost $45 and a Brazilian cost $80?

Monday, November 14, 2005

I am in a major rut right now, and I don't have my retail therapy to fall back on... So I figured I'd sit around and read the rags today. Do you see how sick Paris looks lately? She looks like she's dying. Her eyes are all glazed over and have no sparkle in them... her skin looks dull and it looks like she's forcing a smile. I wonder what's wrong with her?

Speaking of Paris, I have a little MAC lipglass rave to start. Paris has said that her favorite lipcolor is MAC lipglass in Prrr. Knowing that, I had to buy it, and it became my favorite lipglass.

But, I got my Holiday Temptations mini lipglass sets this week, and inside the Cool set was a lipglass called Cultured. I hate the way it looks on everyone when they wear it, so I figured I'd hate it. I didn't even bother trying it on. Until today.

Cultured is now my absolute favorite perfect pink lipgloss. I don't know what I did without it! I need to order a full size, cause I have a feeling this mini isn't going to last me long.

If you've never tried it, MAC lipglass is just about the most amazing lipgloss ever created. It comes in fifty bajillion shades, finishes and textures, it stays on forever, it's cheap ($14!!!) and it tastes like cake.

MAC lipglass = <3.

There's one brand that I'm always on the fence about. Sugar. I have bought a lot of their stuff and it throws me for a loop. The two mini lipgloss sets are amazing. The taste, smell and texture is fab, and they're so cute. But then I got the Mini Slicks set and it's... meh. They taste all right, but there's so much... glitter. It's borderline juvenile. I tried the Perfect 10 eyeshadow palette and I love it. It's not quite as good as MAC, but they are so velvety and the blend very well.

So... Sugar cosmetics. I highly recommend the I Taste Like Sugar and I Scream For Sugar sets. Not really sure about the other stuff though.

And, just because I haven't mentioned it yet, the absolute Holy Grail, creme de la creme of all foundations. Bare Escentuals Bare Minerals. You just won't want to use any other foundation. And it's completely unlike any foundation you've tried. I don't think I've ever met someone who doesn't love it.

And... for concealer, I'm loving the Philosophy Supernatural concealer palette. It has three shades that you can custom blend. but I really find myself only using the middle shade. It's creamy, covers well, doesn't cake or flake, and it blends like a dream. A+ in my book. Concealer is your best friend.

I use the word "and" a lot. I guess I type the way I talk. Oops.

I am putting myself on a spending freeze!

For a month, I'm not going to buy anything that isn't necessary, unless it's a gift for someone else.

I took a good hard look at how many glosses, fragrances... just sheer masses of product... that I own and I need to use. And, the amount I spend on this stuff.... damn.

Now that I'm a blonde, I find that my hair has become very... Dry. It's always been processed, but now it's just... fried. I like the fact that it adds volume to my otherwise flat hair, but I don't like looking like some crispy-hair bleach blonde trailer trash.

I had a sample of Ojon Restorative Hair Treatment lying around and I decided now was as good a time as any to try it out. I melted it in my palms and applied it to towel dried hair as suggested.

The good: It made my hair soft and took away the fried look.

The bad: It's heavy, oily and it smells like a headshop.

It seriously smells like someone was burning some strong incense and blew it into my hair. I smell like a damned hippie. I showered before I put it on, and instantly I felt like I haven't washed my hair in weeks. I had to look in the mirror to make sure I didn't suddenly have dreads.

My hair was intact, I was still wearing a bra, and I didn't mysteriously develop any tacky, trashy peace sign tattoos.

*whew* Crisis over.

Now, to go wash my hair.

I was remembering something earlier that happened a long time ago and it made me laugh.

My first experience with non-facial waxing.

I was a freshman or sophomore in highschool and just starting to get obsessed with beauty... I had seen a commercial for Nad's... remember that stuff? Nad's? Seriously, who the fuck names it NAD'S??

Anyway... My mom bought some Nad's (that just sounds so wrong...) and I was determined to try it... So, I didn't shave my legs for 3 weeks.

At that point in time I was miniscule 90 lbs and could wear pretty much anything I wanted. Mostly I wore a lot of short skirts with fishnets and combat boots. But... short skirts don't really go with unshaven legs.

I had to figure out how to hide my hairy legs and still be able to wear the clothes I always wore so no one would suspect anything! I tried the opaque black tights thing, and sometimes I could actually see the hair through them! Damn my dark-haired Italian genes!

At the end of three weeks I was looking more like a monster than a human, and I was super excited to try out my new Nad's (wouldn't you be?). I follow the directions precisely... Wash with the soap, dry, apply, and put the cloth over... Hold skin taut and pull in the opposite direction... RIP!

And I thought to myself..... Wow, I didn't expect there to be that much blood.

Since then I have become a waxing pro. No more accidental skin removal. It's interesting how we learn these things. I still prefer to shave my legs, and leave other waxing to a professional... But still, it's a valuable skill to have.

Oh yeah, Nad's tastes like sugar. They said on the commercial that it was edible, so I tasted it. Mmm... Nad's.

An article about me!

Except... Drugstore? Please.

You know, I could have bought another car with the amount I spend on makeup.

But cars don't make my lips sparkly.

Scrangie's Winter Survival checklist:

Korres Guava Body Butter: Pretty much the best moisturizer ever. Smells kinda funky, like ... Guava... But it makes your skin like... Bananas. Er... that wasn't quite right. Soft. Some soft fruit that isn't guava. Ok, it makes your skin really soft and hydrated. Forget that whole fruit thing.

Benefit Sandal Scandal: Even if you aren't wearing sandals anymore and you have the excuse that no one will see your feet (except everyone in your pilates class)... You must still care for your feet. This foot treatment has 10% AHA, soaks right in, and comes with cute pink pompom socks. It's like an overnight pedicure. Smells like Benefit's Maybe Baby fragrance too. No more nasty mint-scented foot products!

MAC Moisture Feed Skin, Philosophy Hope in a Jar: Two top quality super creamy facial moisturizers. When the weather gets cold and dry you need to switch to a heavier moisturizer... Like a protective scarf for your skin. Don't forget your sun protection, either!

Tend Skin Solution: Miracle in a bottle.

My Lip Stuff, MAC Tinted Lip Conditioner: MLS comes in over 300 flavors, is dirt cheap and totally awesome. MAC TLC is cute, comes in cute colors, tastes like cake, has SPF and keeps your lips from cracking and falling off in the wonderful midwest winter.

Frederic Fekkai Technician Color Care Mask: Winter = dry. This means hair, too. Dry hair is sad hair. Especially when you have expensive color to maintain.

Bare Escentuals Faux Tan: Ok, I admit. I tan. But I shouldn't. You shouldn't. If I had to have a tan out of a bottle, it would be this one. I don't need a Paris Hilton bronze, I just want a not-a-corpse glow. BE Faux Tan has bronzer so you can see exactly where you apply, plus it gives you some instant color. The color is natural and flattering. One word of advice: wear gloves. You'll have brown palms if you don't... all that extra bronzer soaks in and stains.

Philosophy Cinnamon Buns: It's a shower gel that smells like cinnamon buns. What more could you possibly want? If cinnamon buns aren't your thing, Philosophy has a bajillion other amazing options, such as: Mint Chocolate Chip Ice Cream, Sugar Cookie, Strawberry Milkshake, Lemon Custard, Chocolate Chip Cookies, Melting Chocolate, Pumpkin Pie.... need I say more?

Now, take your glowing skin, your glossy lips, and healthy hair, top them off with a non-dorky hat and some chic sunglasses, and you're all set to not die from the -245 degree Chicago winter.

Or at least die and leave a very sexy corpse.

Got a package from Sephora thursday. It contained...

My Coral Rush Juicy Tubes Cherie!!! It only took them three tries.

I bought a smaller purse last month.

I'm one of those people who likes to carry everything they could possibly ever need at any given moment... Always be prepared, right? If you want to carry that amount of stuff, you need a purse that can accomodate that amount of stuff.

I switched over from my cute white leather bag to a knock-off Balenciaga bag. I know, I spend my money on what goes inside the purse. I'm too afraid to carry an expensive bag. It screams "STEAL ME!". Either way, it was huge and it fit all of my stuff.

It was so big, that when I bought something new, I could just put it right in my purse. After a little while... My purse became really heavy. I'm serious. Like 25-lbs heavy. I got tired of carrying such a heavy purse, but was afraid to give up carrying the amount of stuff I had in there. What if I needed that thing? What would I do without it?

It got to the point where I didn't care that much anymore. I bought a cute little bag from TARGET. Yep! Target. It's really cute. I don't care how much it cost. It's like... At work the other day Tara came in with her brand new $1800 Louis. I like the bag, but... What does she carry in it? Yeah, keys, phone, lipgloss. ONE lipgloss. So... you have a bag that costs more than you probably make in a month, but you don't have anything IN it. Uh, yeah. I like stuff. I don't care what I carry it in.

Ok, getting to the point here. I switched over to my small new bag and packed only the bare necessities: Keys, phone, wallet, checkbook, concealer, brush, 5 lipglasses, 5 MLS, lotion, OPI Mrs. O'Leary's BBQ, Nars Orgasm which doubles as my mirror, and one of those Tide to Go pens, that I never have when I need it.

I was doing okay on the bare essentials, but slowly began to accumulate more... stuff. One day I wanted to wear my Pink Icing Juicy Tubes, so I put that in there. Then I wanted to wear my Dessert Bunny gloss, so that went in. About 10 glosses later, my purse is starting to look fat. But I don't know what to take out! I feel like I need everything in there.

And so begins again the cycle of destruction. Little purse doesn't hold enough, switch to a bigger purse. Bigger purse is great, but doesn't hold enough. Switch to a large purse, and it's full. Large purse gets too heavy and it's back to the little purse....

I do this a few times a year. It's sad.

On a more beauty-related note, even though it's getting cold out, some of us still prefer to be shaved, waxed and plucked to utter perfection. And just because you're buried under layers of clothes doesn't mean you don't have some sort of irritation associated with that. The miracle product: Tend Skin. Seriously, this stuff owns. I don't know if I'd survive without it. Now matter how much razor burn or how many of those annoying little bumps you get from waxing... Tend Skin makes it all go away. Sometimes the same day you use it.

I sound like a salesman now. I'll stop. Bottom line: Tend Skin = Love.

So.... Sometime last week I ordered some stuff from Sephora, and when it arrived one of the items was wrong.

I ordered a Juicy Tubes CHERIE in Coral Rush. They gave me a Juicy Tubes in Coral Rush. Yes, it's it same color but there is a difference!

Juicy Tubes:

Juicy Tubes Cherie:
Image hosted by Photobucket.com

Now you can see my bewilderment a little bit here... One comes in a boring silver box, and one comes in a pretty flowery pink box. Don't get me wrong, I love my Juicy Tubes, but Juicy Tubes Cherie are so much cuter... and limited edition.

I call up Sephora's toll free number (they have excellent customer service, by the way), and she laughs about it and immediately ships me a new one.

Today my replacement package arrived, and I opened it to find.... A Coral Rush Juicy Tubes. Juicy Tube. Whatever. No pink flowers or sparkles or anything.... Arggggh.

I call Sephora again, and I start to tell them what's wrong... The girl starts laughing... She says she talked to me last time, and she couldn't believe how the warehouse could screw it up again. The packing slip even SAYS they put a Juicy Tubes Cherie in the box! But clearly, they did not.

Now I am waiting for my Juicy Tubes Cherie in Coral Rush. Maybe I should have gotten Honey Violet instead.

Anyway...

Fragrances I'm wanting:
Miss Dior Cherie
Lolita Lempicka L
Aquolina Blue Sugar
Valentino V
Prada Prada
CB I Hate Perfume Burning Leaves Absolute

I really want that last one. Burning Leaves. No, not so I can be all cliche because I like Type O Negative... ("Her perfume smells like burning leaves/Every day is Halloween...")

Got to play with my new MAC this morning. Whoooooa awesome. I used the Magenta palette...
Zinc Bar lid to brow, Pale Out on lid, Sumptuous Olive on outer crease blended to outer brow, Nocturnelle lining the bottom. I must say it turned out quite well. I'm not sure if I'm digging Grey Grape, but I haven't had a chance to really... work with it. Matte. Blah. I hate Mattes. But I'll stop before I put my foot in my mouth.

I talked to Brea @ My Lip Stuff , and she said she could make me some stuff! Almond butter stick, spray, Cookies and Cream spray, and possibly a Pink Cake butter stick! She's coming out with her limited edition Christmas ones next week or so, so I may order some along with them.

If you haven't checked out My Lip Stuff, please do so. Brea is a kickass lady and she makes some totally kickass balms. In every flavor you could ever want. And the other stuff she makes is awesome too. Especially the body butter sticks.

Hmmm... what else is new? Oh yeah, I really love my Philosophy. I got my auto-delivery yesterday (lol, shut up. I am that obsessed): Mint Chocolate Chip Ice Cream, Melting chocolate, and Toasted Coconut Marshmallows. Ohhhhh man they are SO GOOD. Today I used the Senorita Margarita hot salt scrub (which is divine and a total miracle product) and then I used the MCC Ice Cream 3-in-1 and it kinda reminded me of a Mojito. So good. Drooling.. Drooling... Must... not... eat... soap...

Mmmm..... sooooooooaaaaaaappppp.....

Monday, October 24, 2005

Woohoo!

Today I got my MAC order... Holiday palettes.

Olive, Magenta and Teal eye palettes. Magenta and Olive Brush sets. Pictures to come.

I haven't gotten a chance to actually open them and play with them yet.

I think I was the first one to order, too. I stayed up till around 11 o'clock the night before release. I finally went to bed and asked K to call me if they went up on the site. About a half an hour later he called and I ordered away.

About 10 minutes later I got an email from MAC saying that Holiday sets were available for purchase on maccosmetics.com.

Awesome.

In other news... There's word of Marilyn Manson releasing a new fragrance in late 05 or early 06. What it smells like is anyone's guess. As long as it's not the smell of Urine, Jack Daniels and cheap weed, I'll probably buy it. It's also rumored that there is going to be a Marilyn Manson cosmetics line to follow. I thought he used MAC? Whatever. It sounds interesting.

I also heard word of two new fragrances that I have to have. Lolita Lempica L, which has been released but I have no idea where... Probably similar to the original (one of my personal favorites) with notes of cinnamon and vanilla.

And.... Aquolina Blue Sugar for men. This sounds interesting. I have the original Pink Sugar, but the idea of a man wanting to smell like cotton candy is... intruiging. Either way, I'll buy it when it does come out.

Jessica Simpson endorsed Dessert Beauty also has a new line out, available exclusively at... Oh God... Wal-Mart. Considering the target audience is 13-year-old girls, this seems to be an excellent marketing strategy.

I own pretty much everything in the high-end Dessert parent line, and a few things from the slightly nasty drugstore Dessert Treats line... I'm actually interested in trying the new "Sweet Kisses" line. The fragrances are Vanilla Cupcake, Strawberry Sorbet, and Creme Brulee. And nothing is over $20.

I've been ordering like mad from Sephora. I got an email a while ago for an exclusive 12-item deluxe sample thingy, and it was totally awesome. I thought I hated Hard Candy, but I got a mini lipgloss in that set, and now I think I have to have a full size one. Mmm.... chocolate cake.

Sephora also kindly delivered my Dior Hypnotic Poison (my new absolute favorite signature scent...), Britney Spears Fantasy (Don't laugh... it actually smells good.), Stila Mini Lipglaze set, LipFusion minis, Philosophy Muffin Man suitcase, Philosophy Cinnamon Buns lipshine, Lancome Juicy tubes and Juicy Tubes Cherie, new Sephora Piiink my Kiiiss set (don't ask me why it has three iii's.... I have mo clue), and a couple other things I can't remember at the moment.

November 10th is the release for the MAC holiday Temptations, which I'm anxiously awaiting. I missed them last year, I'm so getting them this year.

It seems like MAC is releasing a new collection every week now.
