Spicy Movie Review, 'MXC: The Most Extreme Elimination Challenge - Season Two'

Many of you have probably seen the Spike Channel's MXC: Most Extreme Elimination Challenge.

And if you have, it is highly unlikely that you could peel your eyes off the TV or even change the channel.

MXC is based on 'Takeshi's Castle'(Fu-un Takeshi-jo) a Japanese extreme reality sports competition where contestants compete in bizarre feats that are dangerous enough to wear helmets and cause bodily injury. The original series aired from May 2, 1986 to April 14, 1989.

Since then the Spike channel has made the show their own. They renamed it MXC, or The Most Extreme Elimination Challenge, and edited the show to make contestants appear to be part of one of two fictional teams. The teams are usually given names based on their 'supposed' occupations. The dialog of the show is changed and contestants as well as gameshow hosts say ridiculously amusing things in English.

The great thing about MXC is that it's funny. Funny in a way similar to when someone takes a nasty spill and you happen to be a witness to their misfortune. And funny like when you are sitting around with a group of friends being especially juvenile.

That's why I love MXC, it's totally uncomplicated, simple humor. It'll make you feel like a little kid.

Being as I had seen MXC on the Spike channel many times I was excited to view an original episode of Takeshi's Castle in the Special Features section of Disc One.

It was amusing for a moment, but unless you speak Japanese, the novelty wears off quickly.

Other Special Features on these discs are the 'Behind the Scenes' footage and the 'Top 25 Most Painful Eliminations'.

I most enjoyed the Behind the Scenes. They show the voices behind all the characters on the show, which are mostly older heavy set white guys so it is amusing to see them go into character and do the voice overs. One woman does every female voice on the show.

As for the 'Top 25 Painful Eliminations' you can just imagine. These are clips of people taking hard falls as they are trying to complete one of the obstacle courses. You can't help but laugh at some of the attempts.

This is definitely a DVD Disc Set that I would recommend you check out. Most fun to watch with a group of friends, the more the merrier.

DVD Movie Review - The Roast of William Shatner (Uncensored)

I can't believe I hadn't seen this.



When I was given the opportunity to review this I couldn't wait. I had heard a lot about the 'Roasts' on Comedy Central but hadn't actually seen one. After watching my first Roast I have to say that I am hooked.

Comedians take turns cutting Shatner down. (He's bloated, he's washed up. he's a terrible actor..) They also turn the jabs at eachother. (Farrah's poster was great but nobody wants to f*ck her anymore, Artie Lange is a fat drunken sloth and Bettie White has an overactive bladder..)


There is nothing sacred, and no punches are pulled. Sometimes the jokes border on being offensive, so I suggest you have a pretty open sense of humor when viewing.


I would recommend this DVD to anyone with a warped sense of humor like yours truly. This is some funny shizzle here. The best part is that Shatner can laugh at himself as well.

Spicy Movie Review: 'Man About Town'

Man About Town is a movie about a Hollywood Agent, Jack Giamoro (Ben Affleck) who feels he has lost his edge. And with good reason.

He's failed to sign one of the biggest names in Hollywood, his ailing father has moved in with him, his marriage is in shambles, and he suspects (correctly) that his wife may be having an affair.

Jack takes a course in journal writing to help him clear his mind and discover just what it is in life that he really wants. At first he takes the course with a grain of salt, afraid his colleagues will mock him if they found out. As the class progresses his journal starts to take form and his ideas, secrets and feelings flow.

That's where the nettled reporter (Bai Ling) comes in. Revenge is on her mind after Jack never contacts her regarding screenplays she had sent to him. She decides to ruin him with an expose, and of course, gets ahold of the journal and all of Giamoro's secrets.

As they say when it rains it pours, and it's also about this same time that Jack find's out that his wife is indeed cheating on him...with his top client.

Man About Town is a good movie, but by no means is it a great movie. Bai Ling had the most entertaining role as the bitter reporter/screenwriter. While Ben Affleck's character was just plain boring. All I could think about after his wife admitted to him sorrowfully that she had an affair was 'Why would she even be interested in this guy?'

All in all I think the plot in this movie was weak, and you couldn't relate to the characters whatsoever. If substance is what you are looking for you won't find it here.

Would I recommend this movie? Sure, if there is nothing better on, or you are watching it on someone else's dime.
